Meaning
Greenhouse gases are gases which are more transparent to Visible Light than to Infra-red.
About Greenhouse Gases
- Greenhouse gases lead to the greenhouse effect.
- If the percentage of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere increases this could cause the average temperature of the Earth's surface to increase, a process called Global Warming.
- The most common greenhouse gases are Carbon Dioxide, Methane and Water Vapour which all scatter or reflect Infra-red back to the surface of the Earth and prevent it from escaping into space.
