Meaning
Greenhouse gases are gases which are more transparent to Visible Light than to Infrared Light.
About Greenhouse Gases
- Greenhouse gases lead to the greenhouse effect.
- If the percentage of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere increases this could cause the average temperature of the Earth's surface to increase, a process called Global Warming.
- The most common greenhouse gases are Carbon Dioxide, Methane and Water Vapour which all scatter or reflect Infrared Light back to the surface of the Earth and prevent it from escaping into space.
