The contraceptive injection is a hormonal method of contraception used to prevent pregnancy taken by injecting hormones into the blood.

Contraceptive injections contain progesterone which inhibits the production of follicle stimulating hormone so that no ova will mature.

The contraceptive injection lasts 12 weeks before another one is needed.
