Meaning
A fundamental particle is a particle which is not made of any smaller particles.
About Fundamental Particles
- Fundamental particles cannot be split into smaller particles.
- Leptons are fundamental particles as they are not made of any smaller units of matter.
- Quarks are believed to be fundamental particles. However, they have never been observed on their own. They always exists in either a triplet of quarks or a quark-antiquark pair.
- Photons are fundamental particles as they are not made of smaller particles.
