A kilocalorie, also called a 'large calorie' or sometimes a 'calorie' is the energy needed to heat 1 kilogram of water by 1 degree Celsius.
The average adult male human needs 2500 Kilocalories per day.
The average adult female human needs 2000 Kilocalories per day.
