Meaning

The rib cage is the bones in our thorax which protect the lungs and heart.

About the Rib Cage

The rib cage is part of the breathing system.
As air is inhaled the rib cage expands due to intercostal muscles contracting and lifting and pulling the ribs up and outwards.
As air is exhaled the rib cage moves inward due to intercostal muscles relaxing.
