Meaning
Soil is a mixture of rocks and parts of dead creatures that have rotted.
About Soil
- There are many different types of soil which depends on what rocks they are made from.
- Soil is made of either sand, clay, chalk or no rock at all.
- All soils have dead animal and plant material in them.
- Chalky Soil has chalk inside it and is light grey-brown.
- Clay Soil is made mostly of very small grains of clay minerals and is either red-orange or blue-grey.
- Peat is a soil without any rock material in it and is very dark brown or black.
- Sandy Soil is made mostly of sand and is a light brown colour.
