Meaning

The testes are a pair of organs in the male reproductive system located behind the penis in the scrotum responsible for making sperm.

Singular Noun: Testis
Plural Noun: Testes

About the Testes

The testes are found inside a sack called the scrotum.
The testes are outside the body instead of inside because sperm need to be kept cooler than body temperature to survive.
The testes are always making new sperm.

About Testes in the Male Repdroductive System

The testes produce the male gamete known as sperm.
The testes are found inside a sack called the scrotum.
During ejaculation the sperm cells leave the testes via the sperm duct.

About the Testes as Endocrine Glands

The testes secrete a hormone called testosterone.
Testosterone causes the expression of male characteristics during puberty including muscle growth, growth of facial hair and the deepening of the voice.
