About Blood Glucose Regulation
- Blood glucose regulation is a type of homeostasis.
- Blood glucose regulation is controlled by the pancreas.
When the the concentration of glucose in the blood gets too high the pancreas releases insulin which causes:
- Cells to take in more glucose from the blood.
- The liver and muscles to turn glucose into glycogen which is then stored in the liver.
- Glucose is converted into fat in the fatty tissue for storage.
