Key Stage 4
Meaning
Heart Valves are flaps of tissue in the heart which only allow blood through in one direction.
About Heart Valves
There are 4 heart valves:
- The Tricuspid Valve - Separating the right atrium and the right ventricle. Stopping blood from flowing from the right ventricle back into the right atrium.
- The Bicuspid Valve - Separating the left atrium and the left ventricle. Stopping blood from flowing from the left ventricle back into the left atrium.
- 2 Semilunar Valves - Stopping blood from flowing from the arteries back into the ventricles.
