Key Stage 3
Meaning
A xylem cell is a specialised cell which is used to form tubes in the plant to transport water.
Adaptations of Xylem Cells
- Xylem cells have a large vacuole that joins with the vacuole of the next xylem cell to create a tube.
- Xylem cells die leaving only the cell wall and a hollow tube.
About Xylem Cells
- Xylem cells are specialised to create a tube that transports water and minerals from the roots to the leaves.
