Key Stage 4

Meaning

Kilowatts (kW) are a unit of power 1,000 times larger than the SI Unit; the Watt.

About Kilowatts

Kilowatts are shortened to kW with a lower case k and an upper case W.
Kilo means one thousand so there are 1,000 Watts in a kilowatt.

Converting to Kilowatts

Unit To convert Kilowatts
1 megawatt (1MW) Convert to kilowatts x103 1x103kW
1 kilowatt (1kW) Convert to kilowatts x1 1kW
1 Watt (1W) Convert to kilowatts x10-3 1x10-3kW
1 milliwatt 1(mW) Convert to kilowatts x10-6 1x10-6kW
1 microwatt 1(µW) Convert to kilowatts x10-9 1x10-9kW
1 nanowatt 1(nW) Convert to kilowatts x10-12 1x10-12kW
