Meaning
An amoeba is a unicellular microorganism that has a cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria and a nucleus.
- Noun: Amoeba
About Amoeba
- Amoeba has all the parts that an animal cell has, but it is unicellular so it is not counted as an animal.
- When amoeba reproduce they make two exact copies of themselves. This is called cell division.
- Amoeba move with something called pseudopodia where they stretch a small part of themselves in one direction and then pull themselves along.
- Amoeba take in food with a food vacuole and get rid of waste with a contractile vacuole.
