Key Stage 1
Meaning
To classify is to things into groups of similar things.
About Classification
When we put things in groups we are classifying them. We put things in groups because it helps us organise the world.
Examples
- A scientist puts all of their red bricks in one pile and all of their blue bricks in another pile.
- A scientist puts all their triangle blocks in one pile and all of their square blocks in another.
- A scientist writes down lists of animals naming all the ones with fur in one list and all the ones that don't have fur in another list.
