Meaning
The theory of Plate Tectonics states that the Earth's surface is divided into a series of Tectonic Plate. These plates are constantly shifting, some plates are moving together, others a part and some parallel to one another. The boundaries of these plates see features such as trenches, ocean ridges, mountain belts and are where most earthquakes occur.
