Meaning
Kilowatts (kW) are a unit of power 1,000 times larger than the SI Unit; the Watt.
About Kilowatts
- Kilowatts are shortened to kW with a lower case k and an upper case W.
- Kilo means one thousand so there are 1,000 Watts in a kilowatt.
Converting to Kilowatts
| Unit | To convert | Kilowatts |
| 1 megawatt (1MW) | Convert to kilowatts x103 | 1x103kW |
| 1 kilowatt (1kW) | Convert to kilowatts x1 | 1kW |
| 1 Watt (1W) | Convert to kilowatts x10-3 | 1x10-3kW |
| 1 milliwatt 1(mW) | Convert to kilowatts x10-6 | 1x10-6kW |
| 1 microwatt 1(µW) | Convert to kilowatts x10-9 | 1x10-9kW |
| 1 nanowatt 1(nW) | Convert to kilowatts x10-12 | 1x10-12kW |
