Meaning

A picture of a Euglena.
A Euglena is a unicellular micro-organism that has a cell membrane, cytoplasm, chloroplasts, a nucleus and a flagellum.
About Euglena
- Euglena move using a tail called a flagellum.
- Euglena can make their own food because they contain chloroplasts.
- Euglena have chloroplasts but they are not considered plants because they do not have a cell wall, they are unicellular and they have a flagellum.
- The Euglena gets rid of waste using a contractile vacuole.
- Euglena have an eye spot which can sense light and allow the Euglena to respond.
