Meaning
The rib cage is the bones in our thorax which protect the lungs and heart.
About the Rib Cage
- The rib cage is part of the breathing system.
- As air is inhaled the rib cage expands due to intercostal muscles contracting and lifting and pulling the ribs up and outwards.
- As air is exhaled the rib cage moves inward due to intercostal muscles relaxing.
