Key Stage 4
Meaning
Embryonic Stem Cells are undifferentiated cells found in an embryo which can become any type of specialised cell in an organism.
About Embryonic Stem Cells
- Embryonic stem cells can become specific specialised cells when placed next to those cells in a tissue.
- Human embryonic stem cells are taken from aborted human embryos or spare embryos gathered during IVF.
- Embyronic stem cells can be used to repair damaged tissue in adult organisms.
- Many people are against the use of embryonic stem cells in medicine because they are gathered from embryos which will then die as a result.
