Key Stage 4
Meaning
An organelle is a structure inside a cell that performs a particular function.
About Organelles
- Most organelles are bound by a membrane. However, this is not true for all organelles such as the flagellum.
Examples
The nucleus is a membrane bound organelle in all eukaryotic cells. | The chloroplast is a membrane bound organelle found in plant cells and some protists. |
The eyespot is an organelle found in some protists including the Euglena. | The flagellum is an organelle in some protists and some bacteria. |
