Meaning

Platelets are a part of the blood that helps it clot when there is an open wound.

About Platelets

Platelets make up less than 1% of the blood.
Platelets are pieces of dead red blood cells.
When blood escapes a blood vessel the platelets bind together to form a blood clot. However, sometimes a blood clot can form inside a blood vessel and block a blood vessel.
