An abortion is a medical procedure in which a pregnant female loses the embryo or foetus from their uterus.

Abortions are often done when the pregnancy puts the mothers health at risk.

Natural abortions take place in around 20% of all confirmed pregnancies and are referred to as a miscarriage.
