The excretory system is an organ system in animals that removes the urea from the blood.

About the Excretory System

Urea is toxic to cells so the excretory system is essential to remove it from the blood.

The excretory system is made of the following parts:

• The Kidneys - Which filter the blood to remove urea.
• The Ureters - Tubes which transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
• The Bladder - Where urine is stored before being released.
• The Urethra - A tube to allow urine to be released from the bladder.
