Meaning

An antigen is a protein usually found on the cell membrane of a cell or the surface of a virus.

About Antigens

Antigens act as locations where certain chemicals can interact with a cell.
Some antigens are receptor sites where hormones bind in order to change the behaviour of a cell.
Some antigens are locations where a chemical will bind in order to be taken into the cell.
