Meaning

The contraceptive implant is a hormonal method of contraception used to prevent pregnancy placed under the skin.

About the Contraceptive Implant

The contraceptive implants contain oestrogen and progesterone which inhibit the production of follicle stimulating hormone so that no ova will mature.
The contraceptive implant gradually releases the hormones gradually over 3 years before they need to be replaced.
