Meaning

The contraceptive pill is a hormonal method of contraception used to prevent pregnancy taken as a pill.

About the Contraceptive Pill

Some contraceptive pills contain oestrogen and progesterone which inhibit the production of follicle stimulating hormone so that no ova will mature.
Some contraceptive pills contain only progesterone which has fewer side effects than the mixture of oestrogen and progesterone.
