Meaning
Decimetres Cubed (dm3) are a unit of volume that is 1000 times smaller than the SI Unit of the metres cubed.
About Decimetres Cubed
- Decimetres Cubed are shortened to dm3 with with a lower case d and a lower case m and an indices of 3.
- A decimetre cubed is the volume of a cube with sides of 10cm each. Since a decimetre is 0.1 metres then a decimetre cubed is 0.1 x 0.1 x 0.1 metres cubed (0.001m3).
- A decimetre cubed is the same volume as a litre.
- Decimetres Cubed (dm3) are used in chemistry for the volume of gases produced in chemical reactions.
- 1 mol of gas has a volume of 24dm3 at Standard Temperature and Pressure.
