Meaning

Lift is a force made by a wing that acts upwards when the wing moves forwards.

About Lift

Lift is a force so it is measured in Newtons.
Lift is a contact force because it can only act when an object is in a fluid.
Lift is caused by a shape called an aerofoil.

As the wing moves from right to left it produces lift.
Lift only exists when the aerofoil is moving.
Lift is produced by the wings of planes and the blades of a helicopter.
