Key Stage 2

Meaning

A luminous object is on that gives off its own light.
Adjective: Luminous
Noun: Luminosity

About Luminous

The Sun is luminous because it gives off its own light.
The Moon is non-luminous because it does not give off its own light. The Moon reflects the light from The Sun.
If one object is brighter than another, that object is said to be more luminous or have a higher luminosity.
