Key Stage 3

Meaning

Thermal contact describes when objects are able to transfer thermal energy by heating one another.

About Thermal Contact

When objects are in thermal contact they will reach thermal equilibrium where they have the same temperature as one another.
To use a thermometer correctly it must be in thermal contact with the object whose temperature is being measured.
