Meaning

The Umbilical Cord is a cord connecting the placenta of a mother to the offspring in her uterus.

About the Umbilical Cord

The umbilical cord allows nutrients and Oxygen to be transported from the placenta to the foetus and waste materials from the foetus to the placenta.
The 'belly button' is a scar left over from where the umbilical cord connected to the abdomen.
