Key Stage 4
Meaning
The ventricles are chambers in the bottom of the heart where blood leaves through arteries.
About the Ventricles
- The ventricles are separated from the atria by heart valves.
- The heart has two ventricles. A right ventricle and a left ventricle
- The right ventricle receives deoxygenated blood from the right atrium and pumps the blood out of the heart through the Pulmonary Artery to the lungs.
- The left ventricle receives oxygenated blood from the left atrium and pumps the blood out of the heart through an artery called the Aorta which takes the blood to the rest of the body.
