Key Stage 2

Meaning

A blank graph showing the x-axis and the y-axis.

The x-axis is the line along the bottom of a graph.

Key Stage 3

Meaning

The x-axis is the horizontal axis on a graph.

About the x-axis

The x-axis is sometimes referred to as the 'run' while the y-axis is referred to as the 'rise'.
In an investigation the independent variable is usually plotted on the x-axis.
