Applications are the things we can use materials to do and make.

About Applications

Different materials have different properties so they can only be used to make certain things. You cannot make a window out of metal because metal is opaque. You cannot make cloths out of brick because brick is hard and cannot be bent.

An application of Brick is to make walls because it is hard, firm and stiff. An application of fabrics is clothing because it is soft and stretchy so we can wear it. An application of glass is to make drinking glasses because it is hard, firm and waterproof.

An application of Plastic to make cups because it is waterproof. An application of Rubber is to make tyres because it is stretchy, bendy and waterproof material. An application of Metal is to make swords because it is hard and smooth and can be bent without breaking.

An application is what something is used for.

Examples

An application of gasoline is as fuel for a vehicle.
