Closed Isolated System
Key Stage 4
Meaning
Closed isolated systems are systems in which neither mass nor energy get in or out.
About Systems
- A system is an object or a group of objects being studied.
- In closed isolated systems energy cannot enter and escape. Any change in temperature is caused by the changes within that system.
- In a closed isolated system mass cannot enter or leave.
- In closed isolated systems both the laws of Conservation of Energy and Conservation of Mass can be observed.
- Perfectly closed isolated systems are not possible. However, for an experiment an opaque sealed contained which is thermally insulated is close to a closed isolated system.
