Meaning

E.coli is a pathogenic bacteria found in meat that causes food poisoning.

About E.coli

E.coli is found in the digestive system of some animals. When the animal is prepared as food the E.coli can be spread to the rest of the meat.
If E.coli gets into the digestive system of a human it can affect the normal healthy bacteria causing pain, vomiting and diarrhea.
A E.coli infection happens when uncooked food is eaten or a surface is not cleaned properly after raw meat has been placed on it.
An E.coli infection can last several days.
If a large colony of E.coli grows in a meat it produces a toxic chemical so even if the meat is cooked properly it can still cause illness due to the toxin.
