Saturated Solution

Key Stage 3

Meaning

A saturated solution is a solution in which as much soluble material has been dissolved as possible.

About Saturated Solutions

When a solution is saturated then any more of the soluble material added will just settle at the bottom without being dissolved.
Different materials can be dissolved by different amounts in a solvent. Materials for which only little dissolve before saturation are referred to as insoluble while materials for which a large quantity will dissolve before saturation are referred to as soluble.
