Meaning

A ton (or megagram) is a unit of mass which is 1000 times greater than the SI Unit for mass, the kilogram.

About Tons

A ton is the same as a megagram which is shortened to an upper case M with a lower case g Mg.
Mega refers to one million as there are one million grams in a megagram.
A ton is 103 kilograms.
Tons are usually used to describe vehicles or large animals.
