Meaning

Deforestation is when humans remove large numbers of trees from an area of land.

About Deforestation

Deforestation destroys the habitat for communities in an ecosystem.
Forests act as carbon sinks so deforestation reduces their ability to take in as much Carbon Dioxide which contributes to global warming.
Deforestation in some regions with poor quality soil can also lead to desertification.
