Key Stage 5

Meaning

An muon-neutrino (νμ) is a type of neutrino with the flavour of a muon.

About Muon-neutrinos

The muon-neutrino is denoted with the Greek letter ν ('nu') with the subscript μ ('mu').
Muon-neutrinos are fundamental particles as they are not made of any smaller particles.
The muon-neutrino has negligible mass and no charge.
Muon-neutrinos are affected by the:
Lepton Charge/e Strangeness Baryon Number Lepton Number

Muon-neutrino

\(Q=0\) \(S=0\) \(B=0\) \(L=+1\)

Antimuon-neutrino

\(Q=0\) \(S=0\) \(B=0\) \(L=-1\)
