Key Stage 5
Meaning
An muon-neutrino (νμ) is a type of neutrino with the flavour of a muon.
About Muon-neutrinos
- The muon-neutrino is denoted with the Greek letter ν ('nu') with the subscript μ ('mu').
- Muon-neutrinos are fundamental particles as they are not made of any smaller particles.
- The muon-neutrino has negligible mass and no charge.
- Muon-neutrinos are affected by the:
| Lepton | Charge/e | Strangeness | Baryon Number | Lepton Number |
| \(Q=0\) | \(S=0\) | \(B=0\) | \(L=+1\) | |
| \(Q=0\) | \(S=0\) | \(B=0\) | \(L=-1\) |
