Phenolphthalein is an indicator dye that changes colour depending on the pH of a solution.

About Phenolphthalein

Phenolphthalein is a transparent without colour when it is in a neutral solution.
Phenolphthalein changes colour quickly between pH 7 and 8 to turn pinky purple at pH 8 and beyond.
