About Micro-habitats
Some creatures can't survive everywhere in a habitat. They must find a special place inside a habitat with just the right conditions to survive.
Examples
Woodlice cannot survive out in the open, so they live under logs and rocks where the conditions of these mirco-habitats are just right. | Tube worms live in the sea but only near underwater volcanoes. This micro-habitat is very warm and gives them the food they need to survive. |
A Termite mound is a micro-habitat built by the termites in grasslands. It provides the termites with the ideal conditions to survive. | Ponds are found in forests and grassland habitats. They are an ideal micro-habitat for water lilies. |
