Key Stage 4

Meaning

Urine is a solution made from urea and water which is taken from the blood by the kidneys in the process of excretion.

About Urine

Urine is produced in the kidneys which filter the blood to remove water, urea and some other chemicals.
Urine passes from the kidneys to the bladder via the ureters. The urine is stored in the bladder before it is released from the body via the urethra.
The colour of urine can give information about whether an animal is dehydrated. If the urine is dark in colour the animal needs more water.
