Meaning
Complete combustion occurs when there is enough Oxygen to completely oxidise all of the atoms in a compound.
About Complete Combustion
- In the complete combustion of hydrocarbons and some other organic compounds the only products are Carbon Dioxide and Water.
- Methane + Oxygen → Carbon Dioxide + Water
\(CH_4 + 2O_2 → CO_2 + 2H_2O\)
- Ethane + Oxygen → Carbon Dioxide + Water
\(2C_2H_6 + 7O_2 → 4CO_2 + 6H_2O\)
- Propane + Oxygen → Carbon Dioxide + Water
\(C_3H_8 + 5O_2 → 3CO_2 + 4H_2O\)
- Butane + Oxygen → Carbon Dioxide + Water
