Meaning
A meristem is plant tissue containing undifferentiated stem cells at root and shoot tips that can divide to produce specialised cells.
About the Meristem
- Usually only cells in the meristem can divide for the plant to grow. Other cells can only elongate.
- Cells in the meristem are affected by plant hormones like auxin and gibberellin.
