Meaning

A haploid cell contains only half the number of chromosomes needed to produce an new organism in sexual reproduction.

About Haploid Cells

Haploid cells are produced by meiosis.
When two haploid cells fuse together in fertilisation they produce a diploid cell.
In a human a haploid cell contains 23 chromosomes.
