Key Stage 3

Meaning

This galaxy has over 100 billion stars.

A galaxy is a group of millions of stars held together by gravity.

About Galaxies

Our home galaxy is called The Milky Way which contains around 400 billion stars.
The nearest galaxy to The Milky Way is called the Andromeda galaxy and is 2,000,000 Light Years away.
Galaxies are usually held together by a large Black Hole at the centre. The stars all orbit this central Black Hole.
Scientists believe there are over 200 billion galaxies in the Universe.

Key Stage 4
