Key Stage 4
Meaning
A ribosome is a complex molecule found inside cells that is the site of protein synthesis.
Function
- Ribosomes build proteins for the cell from amino acids.
About Ribosomes
- Ribosomes are made of RNA and protein and take instructions form the nucleus to synthesize proteins.
- DNA in the nucleus creates a length of RNA which leaves the nucleus and attaches to a ribosome to synthesise a protein.
