Smoking is when someone inhales smoke from a cigarette, cigar or pipe.

Smoking is addictive because the tobacco that is burned has a drug called nicotine inside which causes addiction.

The smoke from tobacco also has other dangerous chemicals inside that damage your health:

Tar - Which gets stuck in the mucus of the lungs damaging the cilia on the ciliated epithelial cells.
Carbon Monoxide - Which takes the place of Oxygen in red blood cells stopping your blood from carrying as much Oxygen around the body.

Nicotine - Which increases the risk of blood clots and the formation of cholesterol plaques in the blood vessels.
